Boise Facilitator Sherry Gorrell, group facilitation and training, an effective use of communication skills

Facilitating Communication

Facilitation comes from the Latin word “facile” or “to make easy,” although it’s not always easy to facilitate a group or team when you’re the manager and/or emotionally involved.

We can work with your company’s contact person or manager to develop an awareness of possible issues and to develop an Agenda for the meeting. By neutrally facilitating the meeting or discussion, we can maintain a power balance between the stakeholders at the meeting, make sure everyone’s opinions are heard, deal with problem people with effective communication skills, and provide a safe environment for everyone to feel like they are contributing. This process really does take you, the manager off the hot seat, and lets you become an integral part of the team.

Types of Meetings:

Possible Goals might be to Guide the Team towards:

  • Connection and involvement
  • Review and understanding of issues
  • Understanding of each other’s work styles, strengths & weaknesses
  • Understanding of each other’s interests & concerns
  • Development of a shared Vision for SUCCESS
  • Buy in & Participation in Strategic Planning
  • Collaboration in Goal Setting
  • Review of Opportunities and Risks
  • Development of Timelines for ACTION
  • Assignments for ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Development of effective Communication Processes
  • Development of Conflict Resolution Process
  • Feedback Processes

Difficult family discussions come up for all of us and, often, everyone is emotionally charged. With neutral facilitation, the goal is to help each family member feel safe in expressing thoughts, concerns, hopes and fears. We can facilitate clear communication, understanding and decisions to avoid debilitating family drama.
