MEDIATION
Mediation is the process where two or more disputing parties confidentially discuss the issues of their situation with the help of a trained impartial mediator and work toward a joint resolution–usually in the form of a written agreement. The intention of the mediator is to create a safe environment to help each person to:
- Clarify concerns;
- Feel heard;
- Understand the issues;
- Hear the other person;
- Participate in creating options;
- Become a problem solver;
- Find a resolution;
- Determine specifics of a written agreement; and
- Create feedback processes.
